The verse
Literal translation
English: Well-done, well-done — Viṭhobā — well-done. Looking inside the kṣamā — let (me) be beaten on the thorns in the body. Śivyā-gāḷī — without nīta — much viṭambana. Tuka says: from the hands of krōdha — released — took (me).

What it means
A praise-Viṭhobā-after-torture abhang within the Mambaji Gosavi persecution cluster (cf. 354 colophon, 355). Three claims:
-
The triple-praise. Repeated-three-times — to seal the praise. Tukaram praises Viṭhobā for what was done — which is the persecution-allowing-while-protecting.
-
पाहोनि आंत क्षमा अंगी कांटीवरी मारविलें — looking at kṣamā inside, you let me be beaten on the thorns. The deva's-test-of-kṣamā: Viṭhobā saw the kṣamā (forbearance) inside Tukaram — and therefore allowed the body to be beaten on the kānṭīvarī (thorns). The test was permitted because of the inner-kṣamā. (The kānṭīvarī beating is biographically attested — Mambaji is reported to have beaten Tukaram with a thorn-stick.)
-
The verbal-abuse-clause: śivyā-gāḷī (curses and abuses) without nīta (rule, propriety) — much viṭambana (mockery, disgrace). The physical-and-verbal abuse is both named.
-
तुका म्हणे क्रोधा हातीं — सोडवूनि घेतलें रे — Tuka says: from the hands of krodha — released and took. The closing-rescue: Viṭhobā released Tukaram from the hands of krodha — and took him. The deepest-rescue is not from the persecutor's hands but from the persecuted's krodha. Krodha could have arisen in Tukaram in response; Viṭhobā released him from this krodha-arising.

For someone today
This abhang names the deepest-rescue: not from external-attack but from internal-krodha:
-
Praise Viṭhobā* even after the torture. Baravēm baravēm kelē Viṭhobā baravēm. The triple-praise after the abuse is Tukaram's stance. He praises the deva even for the test. (This is not masochism; it is recognizing the test-purpose and the rescue-mechanism*.)
-
The deva saw the kṣamā* inside; that's why the test was permitted. Pāhōnī āmta kṣamā — angī kānṭīvarī mārvilē. The test was matched to the kṣamā capacity; the deva did not test beyond what the kṣamā could bear. The test-is-calibrated rule*.
-
Verbal-and-physical-abuse must both be received with nīta-less viṭambana*-recognition. Śivyā-gāḷī nīta nāhī — bahu phāra viṭambilē. Recognize the abuse for what it is — abuses without rule, much disgrace. Don't minimize it; name it. And still praise Viṭhobā* (claim 1).
-
The deepest rescue is from krodha*-hands, not from the persecutor's hands. Krōdhā hātīm — sōḍavūni ghētalēm. The persecutor's hands beat the body; the krodha-hands threaten to beat the soul. Viṭhobā rescued Tukaram from the krodha-hands. The deepest rescue is the inner-rescue from krodha-arising-in-response-to-attack*.
For today: when persecuted, recognize the abuse for what it is — without minimizing; recognize that the test was matched to your kṣamā-capacity; and recognize that the deepest-rescue is from your own krodha-arising, not from the persecutor's hands; praise the deva for this inner-rescue.
This abhang is the deepest-pastoral-frame in the Mambaji Gosavi cluster: the persecutor's external-violence is real; but the bhakta's deepest-danger is internal-krodha; and from this danger, the deva rescues. Tukaram's praise is for this inner-rescue.
Test-is-calibrated rule*.
-
Abuse जे आहे ते ओळखा — rule-less abuses, much disgrace.

- Test calibrated to kṣamā-capacity. Inner-seen, outer-permitted.
- Name the abuse without minimizing. Honest-recognition.
- Rescue from krodha-hands. Deepest-inner-rescue.
