English: All Jeṣṭhā-devī — what ṭhāva of pūjana?

The verse

Literal translation

What it means

A all-Jeṣṭhā-devī-equality-of-vessels-by-bhāva ḍānkā abhang. Within the ḍānkā cluster. Five claims:

1. अवघ्या जेष्ठादेवी — कोण पूजनाचा ठाव — धरितां चि भाव — कोठें नाहींसें जालें — all Jeṣṭhā-devī — what ṭhāva of pūjana? — holding bhāva — nowhere is lacking. The opening-equality-claim: all are Jeṣṭhā-devī (the eldest-deity, primal-feminine); what particular ṭhāva of pūjana? — when bhāva is held, nothing is lacking anywhere. All deity-forms are the same Jeṣṭhā-devī when bhāva is the test.

2. दिसे सारिखें सारिखें — परि तें कारणीं पारिखें — appears sārikhē-sārikhē — but in kāraṇa, different. The appearance-vs-cause distinction: (deity-forms) appear similar; but in kāraṇa (cause / function), they differ. Surface-similarity, depth-difference.

3. तळीं गेलें देखें — वरी टोले न साहाती — falling below, recognize — top ṭōlē can't withstand. The test-by-burden claim: what falls below, recognize; those above cannot withstand the ṭōlē (blows / loads). Test the deity-forms by burden; those-above cannot bear; those-below can. (The low-position-bears-more paradox.)

4. पट एका शिरीं — यथाविधीनें त्या येरी — बसकोळ्या घागरी डेरे रांझण गाडगीं — cloth on one — by yathā-vidhi — the others — basket-pots, jars, vessels, large-pots, small-pots. The vessel-list image: cloth (turban / sacred-cloth) on one's head — by yathā-vidhi (proper-rule); the other vessels — basket-pots, jars, vessels, large-pots, small-pots. Different vessels for different functions; each by yathā-vidhi.

5. तुका म्हणे माना — येथें कोणीं रुसावें ना — आपुलाल्या स्थानां — जेथें त्या चि शोभल्या — Tuka says: recognize — no one sulks here — at her own sthāna — each shines. The closing-resolution: recognize this; no one should sulk; at her own sthāna (place) — each shines. Don't compare-and-sulk; each vessel shines at her own place.

1. All deity-forms are Jeṣṭhā-devī under bhāva*-test. Avaghyām Jeṣṭhā-devī — dharitām ci bhāva — kōṭhē nāhīmsē jālē. The deity-form-pluralism doesn't matter when bhāva is the test. Don't argue about which deity-form is highest*.

2. Surface-similarity hides depth-difference. Disē sārikhē sārikhē — parī tē kāraṇī pārikhē. Don't be fooled by surface; the kāraṇa (cause / function) distinguishes.

3. The low-position bears the load; the top can't. Taḷīm gēlē dēkhē — varī ṭōlē na sāhāti. The paradox: those-below bear more; those-above cannot withstand the loads. Don't envy the high-position; the low-position has its strength.

4. Different vessels for different functions; each by yathā-vidhi*. Pat ēkā śirīm — basa-kōḷyā ghāgarī ḍērē rāñjaṇa gāḍagī. Don't expect all vessels to do all things; each has its function*.

5. Don't sulk; each shines at her own sthāna*. Kōṇī rusāvē nā — āpulālyā sthānām jēthē tyā ci śōbhalyā. Don't compare-and-sulk; each bhakta has her own sthāna where she shines. Honor the diversity*.

For today: don't argue deity-form supremacy when bhāva is the test; recognize surface-similarity-and-depth-difference; honor the low-position's load-bearing; recognize different vessels for different functions; no sulking — each shines at her own sthāna**.

4. Different vessels different functions; प्रत्येक yathā-vidhi* ने. पट एका शिरीं — बसकोळ्या घागरी डेरे रांझण गाडगीं. सर्व vessels सर्व things करतील expect नका; प्रत्येकाची function*.

5. Sulk नका; प्रत्येक तिच्या sthāna* वर shines. कोणीं रुसावें ना — आपुलाल्या स्थानां जेथें त्या चि शोभल्या. Compare-and-sulk नका; प्रत्येक bhakta ची स्वतःची sthāna जिथे ती shines. Diversity honor करा*.

आज: Bhāva test असेल देवी-form supremacy argue नका; Surface-similarity-and-depth-difference ओळखा; Low-position च load-bearing honor करा; Different vessels different functions ओळखा; Sulk नका — प्रत्येक तिच्या sthāna वर shines.

Equality-and-particularity register, ḍānkā cluster मधलं — सर्व bhāva ने Jeṣṭhā-devī, तरी प्रत्येक तिच्या sthāna वर shines.
