Tukaram makes a bold claim: there is no happiness greater than peace, and everything else you chase is really just another form of suffering in disguise. Hold onto that peace and it becomes the very thing that carries you across to the far shore, out of struggle and into rest. When lust and anger flare up inside you, they don't stay in the mind, they spread into the body itself as real illness and unease. But when peace is genuinely held, Tukaram says the three kinds of suffering that trouble a person quietly resolve on their own, without you having to fight each one by hand.
The verse
Literal translation
No sukha — beyond śānti — rest — all duḥkha. Thus — hold śānti — cross — paila tīra. Excited kāma-krōdha — body fills ādhi-vyādhi. Tuka says: tri-vidha-tāpa — go — āpēm-āpa.

What it means
A śānti-greatest-sukha-tāpa-go-by-themselves abhang. Concise discipline-and-result register. Three claims:
-
शांतीपरतें नाहीं सुख — येर अवघें ची दुःख — म्हणउनी शांति धरा — उतराल पैल तीरा — no sukha — beyond śānti — rest — all duḥkha — thus — hold śānti — cross — paila tīra. The opening-rule: there is nosukhagreater thanśānti (peace);everything else is duḥkha; thus, holdśānti; you will cross to thepaila tīra(far shore). Śānti-as-greatest-sukha-and-the-bridge-to-far-shore.
-
The causal-claim: whenkāma-krōdha(lust-and-anger) iskhavaḷalī(excited / inflamed); the body fills withādhi-vyādhi(mental-and-physical illness). Disturbed-mind-causes-body-illness. Bhakti-yoga-medicine: śānti is the body-medicine too.
-
The closing-result-claim: Tuka says: thetri-vidha-tāpa(three-fold suffering = ādhyātmika [self-caused], ādhibhautika [other-creature-caused], ādhidaivika [divine / accidental-caused]); goāpēm-āpa(by-themselves, on-their-own). When śānti is held, the three-fold-tāpa goes-by-itself. Self-going-of-tāpa.
