Abhanga 734

You do not need to match great practitioners; bring your honest plea, however little or much it is, and trust it will be accepted as it is.

When Your great bhaktas do vicāra; japa-tapa is beyond my mind — and you have to recognize this register
When just karuṇā-words from the dīna — and you accept this image
When take my little or much, in its place — and you receive this final petition

The verse

Literal translation

For someone today

Tukaram says Your great devotees engage in deep reflection and disciplined practices like japa and tapas, but his own mind cannot even entertain such things. All he has to offer are words of compassion, the plea of a humble, lowly person. So he asks God simply to take whatever he brings, however little or much it is, just as it is.
