No achievement or clever words can satisfy the heart the way keeping your mind on the divine and offering one honest request can.

जीवभावना पुरवूं कोण जाणे । तुजवांचुनी होत कां रावराणे ॥१॥ मनीं मानसीं चिंतितां रूपनाम । पळे पाप ताप भयें नास काम ॥२॥ करूं मुखवाणी कैसी देशघडी । तुजवांचुनि वाणितां व्यर्थ गोडी ॥३॥ असो भावें जीव तुझ्या सर्व पायीं । दुजें मागणें आणीक व्यर्थ काई ॥४॥ तुका राहिला पायिं तो राख देव । असें मागतसे तुझी चरणसेवा ॥५॥

Jīva-bhāvanā — rāva-rāṇē. Rūpa-nāma — pāpa-tāpa-bhaya-nāsa-kāma. Mukha-vāṇī — vyartha gōḍī. Bhāva sarva pāyī — dujē māgaṇē. Tuka says: Tuka rāhilā — caraṇa-sēvā.

Tukaram asks who else could ever truly satisfy the heart's deepest longing, and says that without the divine, even the grandest life of kings and queens rings hollow. When the mind holds the form and the name in steady thought, sin, torment, fear, and craving simply flee, the way shadows leave when light comes in. He admits that his own words are clumsy and that praise without real feeling is just empty sweetness, so he stops trying to be eloquent and asks for one thing only, to serve at those feet. The lesson is that you do not need better words or bigger achievements to reach what matters, you need your heart actually placed there, and one honest request beats a hundred polished ones.
