Only sustained vigilance, balanced strength and judgment, and fair distribution turn a ripened harvest into something truly your own, letting the useless chaff fall away.

सेत आलें सुगी सांभाळावे चारी कोण । पिका आलें परी केलें पाहिजे जतन ॥१॥ सोंकरीं सोंकरीं विसावा तों वरा । नकोउभें आहे तों ॥ध्रु.॥ गोफणेसी गुंडा घालीं पागोर्याच्या नेटें । पळती हाहाकारें अवघीं पांखरांची थाटें ॥२॥ पेटवूनि आगटी राहें जागा पालटूनि । पडिलिया मान बळ बुद्धि व्हावीं दोनी ॥३॥ खळे दानें विश्व सुखी करीं होतां रासी । सारा सारूनियां ज्याचे भाग देई त्यासी ॥४॥ तुका म्हणे मग नाहीं आपुलें कारण । निज आलें हातां भूस सांडिलें निकण ॥५॥ ॥३॥
Literal translation
Sugī sāmbhāḷ jatana. Sōnkarī viśāmā — only up to. Gōphaṇa guṇḍā — pānkhara flee. Āgaṭī pālaṭ — baḷa buddhi both. Khaḷē dāna — bhāga. Tuka says: nija — bhūsa sāṇḍilē. ॥३॥

What it means
3rd of the farming-allegory triplet (closes ॥३॥). The harvest-vigilance scene completed: keep watch with sling-and-clod, light the watch-fire, balance strength-and-judgment, distribute fairly on the threshing-floor — then the nija (one's-own, true-self) comes to hand, and the bhūsa (chaff) is separated.

For someone today
The crop has ripened, Tukaram says, but that's exactly when you cannot relax: keep watch until it's safely gathered in. Sling stones to scare off the birds, light a fire and keep changing your position through the night, and let both your strength and your good judgment work together. When the grain is finally threshed, give each person their rightful share, so the whole community benefits from the harvest. Only after this vigilant, honest work is done does what is truly your own come into your hands, while the useless husk falls away on its own.
