What can't this ordinary body accomplish, Tukaram asks, when devotion and worship can carry it all the way to Vaikuntha? Rama's name costs nothing at all, yet it untangles you from every dispute and entanglement that maya creates. Keep your mind joined to it, he says, and let your tongue taste the flavor of Rama every single day. We are servants of that same power, he reminds his listeners, the very one that defeated the arrogant Ravana and gave the kingdom of Lanka to the righteous Vibhishan instead.
The verse
ये हि तन करते क्या ना होय । भजन भगति करे वैकुंठे जाय ॥१॥ रामनाम मोल नहिं वेचे कबरि । वो हि सब माया छुरावत झगरी ॥२॥ कहे तुका मनसुं मिल राखो । रामरस जिव्हा नित्य चाखो ॥३॥ हम दास तीन्हके सुनाहो लोकां । रावणमार विभीषण दिईं लंका ॥ध्रु.॥
Literal translation
Tana karatē kyā — bhajana Vaikuṇṭha. Rāma-nāma mōla — māyā jhagaḍī. Tuka says: mana-sum mila — Rāma-rasa cākhō. Hama dāsa tīnhakē — Rāvaṇa Vibhīṣaṇa Lankā.
