Abhanga 1418

For today: from here on, all bhāva is aimed at one ṭhāva — Hari's lofty feet; the place is blow-free; holding it, I have remained acaḷa.

When you'd take refuge at lofty feet — all bhāva aimed from here; blow-free aloof place; holding it, I have remained unmoving

The verse

What it means

From-here-the-place-Hari's-lofty-feet abhang. The opening: yēthūniyām ṭhāva — avaghē lakṣayācē bhāvafrom here — the ṭhāva (place); — all bhāva — to be lakṣya (aimed at). The bhakta has found his place (at Hari's feet, made explicit next); from here on, every bhāva is to be aimed at this single ṭhāva.

The location: uñcī Devācē caraṇa — tēthēm jālēm adhiṣṭhānahigh (uñcī) — Deva's — caraṇa (feet); — there — has been (made) — adhiṣṭhāna. Hari's caraṇa are uñcī (lofty / above); — that is the adhiṣṭhāna (= seat / station). (Compare 1411's nirmaḷa kāyā adhiṣṭhāna tayācē — pure body is his adhiṣṭhāna; here the bhakta's adhiṣṭhāna is Hari's feet.)

The protection: āghātāvēgaḷā — asē ṭhāva hā nirāḷāapart from āghāta (blow / strike); — this ṭhāva — stays nirāḷā (separate / aloof). The ṭhāva is blow-free — beyond reach of samsāra-strikes; aloof from the strike-zone.

The closing: Tukā mhaṇē sthaḷa — dharūnī rāhilōm acaḷaTuka says — the sthaḷa (place); — having held it (dharūnī) — I have remained — acaḷa (unmoving). Acaḷa — the unmoving one — Tuka has become acaḷa by holding the sthaḷa. (Compare 1399's Tukā lōkīm nirāḷā — Tuka aloof in the world; acaḷa is the next stage — unmovable.)
