Abhanga 1430
For today: no other company that breaks my mind; no non-Hari speech in my ears; speak when courtesy needs but my mind isn't there; only Pāṇḍuranga-lovers are dearer than life; only Hari knows my welfare.
The verse
Literal translation
English: I will not keep any other's sanga — by which bhanga of my citta happens. Other than Viṭhṭhala — what vāṇī — I will not hear with my own ears. For samādhāna's sake — let this māta be spoken — but my citta is not (elsewhere). More than jīva — they alone are dear to me — to whose citta Pāṇḍuranga is dear. Tuka says: my hita — that one alone knows — to others' bōlā I will not give my citta.

What it means
No-non-Hari-company-or-speech abhang. A strict-satsanga-discrimination manifesto. The opening: āṇīka kōṇācā na karīm mī sanga — jēṇē hōya bhanga mājhyā cittā — I will not keep — anyone else's — sanga; — by which — bhanga (= breaking) — of my citta — happens. The reasoning is concrete: the wrong company breaks the citta. (= the bhanga-of-citta threat from earlier abhangs; cf. 1393's manā-kāncanī — keep mind on the line.)
The ear-vow: Viṭhṭhalāvāñcūnī āṇīka jē vāṇī — nā'ikēm mī kānīm āpuliyā — other than Viṭhṭhala — what vāṇī; — I will not hear with my own ears. The ear-discrimination: no non-Viṭhṭhal-speech enters my ears. (Compare 1407's aikōm-kānīm-nā'ikōnī — hear with ears as if not-hearing; here even stronger — just don't hear.)
The conditional concession: samādhānā-sāṭīm bōlāvī hē māta — parī mājhēm citta nāhīm kōṭhēm — for samādhāna's sake — let this māta be spoken; — but my citta — is not — anywhere (else). I'll speak when courtesy/peace requires; but my citta isn't there. (= social-conformity outwardly, citta-discipline inwardly.)
The positive: jīvāhūnī maja tē chi āvaḍatī — āvaḍē jyā cittīm Pāṇḍuranga — more than (my) jīva (life) — they alone — are dear to me; — to whose citta — Pāṇḍuranga is dear. The bhakta's family: not blood-relations, but Pāṇḍuranga-lovers — and they're dearer than life itself.
The closing: Tukā mhaṇē mājhēm tō chi jāṇē hita — āṇikāñcyā citta nēdīm bōlā — Tuka says — my hita (welfare) — that one alone (tō chi = Hari) — knows; — to others' bōlā (words) — I will not give citta. Only Hari knows my welfare; — no others get my mind-attention.
