For today: Name's saving-glory; burns past great-dōṣa, no future garbha-vāsa ; what śāstra blamed becomes worshipful by mere-Name ; Name's stamp in tribhuvana.
The verse
Literal translation
Purāṇa-famed limit — Name's saving-glory. Burns past great-dōṣa — no future garbha-vāsa. What śāstra blamed — becomes worshipful by mere Name. Tuka says: such — Name's stamp in tribhuvana.
What it means
NAME-SAVES-FROM-PAST-AND-FUTURE ABHANG.
THE PAST-AND-FUTURE-SAVING: māgē jāḷī mahā dōṣa — puḍhē nāhī garbha-vāsa — burns past great-dōṣa — no future garbha-vāsa. Burns-past great-dōṣa; no-future garbha-vāsa (womb-dwelling = rebirth). The Name saves both-past-karma and-future-rebirth.
THE FAMOUS ŚĀSTRA-BLAMED-LINE: jē nindilē śāstrē — vandya jālē nāma-mātrē — what śāstra blamed — becomes worshipful by mere Name. What-the-śāstras blamed — becomes vandya (worshipful) by-mere-Name. One of Tukārām's most-revolutionary bhakti-egalitarian-lines: even-those-blamed-by-śāstra (low-caste, sinful, outcaste) become-worshipful through-Name-utterance alone.
