Abhanga 2379

Simply speaking the divine Name with sincerity accomplishes what elaborate rituals try to achieve, and can transform the one who utters it.

When you trust that a simple, sincere practice is enough instead of chasing elaborate rituals

When you speak a value or intention aloud with love instead of just thinking it silently

When you notice that repeating what you cherish starts to actually shape your character

The verse

तया घडले सकळ नेम । मुखीं विठोबाचें नाम ॥१॥ कांहीं न लगे सिणावें । आणिक वेगळाल्या भावें । वाचे उच्चारावें । रामकृष्णगोविंदा ॥ध्रु.॥ फळ पावाल अवलिळा । भोग वैकुंठ सोहळा ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे त्याच्या नांवें । तो चि होइजेल स्वभावें ॥३॥

Literal translation

All rites accomplished for one — with Viṭhoba's name in mouth. No other effort needed — by separate bhāva — utter aloud — Rāma Kṛṣṇa Gōvinda. Fruit attained easily — Vaikuṇṭha-festival enjoyed. Tuka says: by his name — becomes the very [Lord] by-nature.

What it means

NAME-SUFFICES-FOR-ALL-RITES ABHANG.

The all-rites-by-Name: tayā ghaḍalē sakaḷa nēma — mukhīm Viṭhōbāchē nāma — all rites accomplished for one with Viṭhoba's name in mouth. All-rites (sakaḷa nēma) are-accomplished for-one with-Viṭhoba's-name in-mouth (= sole-Name-utterance suffices).

The Rāma-Kṛṣṇa-Gōvinda: kāmhīm na lagē siṇāvē — āṇika vēgaḷālyā bhāvē — vāchē uchchārāvē — Rāma-Kṛṣṇa-Gōvindā — no other effort needed — by separate bhāva — utter aloud — Rāma Kṛṣṇa Gōvinda. No-other-effort needed; by-the-separate-bhāva, utter-aloud — Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Gōvinda.

The become-the-Lord: Tukā mhaṇē tyāchyā nāmvē — tō chi hō'ijēla svabhāvē — by his name — becomes the very [Lord] by-nature. By-his-Name, [the bhakta] becomes the-very-[Lord] by-nature (svabhāva). Name-utterance transforms-the-bhakta into-the-Lord himself.
