Abhanga 2397
Keep pleading without embarrassment, because the treasure that ends your want is already there, and wholehearted devotion does not wait for the right time.
The verse
Literal translation
Therefore I come pleading repeatedly — in your hands, Husband-of-Kamalā, is the treasure. Come to remove poverty — no delay needed — sufficient fearless-giver — place-to-place for the poor. Nowhere to run — for this I forsook desire — don't let it take refuge — opposed the mind. By virtue of cause — knows not time or kāla — by your kīrtana — Tukā wakes you.
What it means
KAMALĀ-PATĪ HOLDS THE TREASURE + KĪRTANA WAKES THE LORD ABHANG. 4-verse longer-format.
The Kamalā-patī treasure: tumhām asē hātīm Kamaḷā-patī bhāṇḍāra — in your hands, Husband-of-Kamalā, is the treasure. In-your-hands (O Kamalā-patī = Lakṣmī's-husband = Viṣṇu/Viṭhṭhal), is-the-treasure (bhāṇḍāra).
The poverty-removal: phēḍūm ālētī daridri — tarī na lagē uśīra — come to remove poverty — no delay needed. You-come to-remove-poverty; no-delay needed.
THE FAMOUS KĪRTANA-WAKES-THE-LORD: tumchyā kīrtanē — Tukā tumhām jāgavī — by your kīrtana — Tukā wakes you. By-your-kīrtana, Tukā wakes-you. The bhakta's-kīrtana wakes-the-Lord — a reversal-of-roles: bhakta-as-the-one-who-rouses-the-Divine.
