For today: people change as one approaches the Lord; now beautiful are those feet, my Mother Viṭhṭhalē ; experience beyond jīva; made renunciation.
The verse
Literal translation
Going to be near — in a moment, people change. Now beautiful are those feet, my Mother Viṭhṭhalē. This has come to experience — see beyond the jīva. Tuka says: made renunciation — all-association.
What it means
THE VIṬHṬHALĒ-AS-MOTHER ABHANG.
The people-change: karūm jātām sannidhāna — kṣaṇi jana pālaṭē — going to be near — in a moment, people change. As-one-approaches the-Lord, people-around-change-instantly (= worldly-attachments-falter).
VIṬHṬHALĒ-AS-MOTHER: ātām gōmaṭē tē pāya — tujhē māya Viṭhṭhalē — now beautiful are those feet, my Mother Viṭhṭhalē. Now-beautiful-are those-feet, my-Mother Viṭhṭhalē. The feminized-vocative — Viṭhṭhal as-Māy (Mother), not-the-usual-male-Lord.
The experience-beyond-jīva: hē tōm ālē anubhavā — pāhāvē jīvāvarūni — this has come to experience — see beyond the jīva. This-has-come to-experience; see-beyond the-jīva.

For someone today
For today: people change as one approaches the Lord; now beautiful are those feet, my Mother Viṭhṭhalē ; experience beyond jīva; made renunciation.
Where this applies
- When you notice that turning your attention toward something sacred quietly changes who feels close to you and who drifts away
- When you long for a divine presence that feels nurturing and safe rather than distant or judging, like a mother's care
- When you have had a moment of deep inner knowing that words struggle to explain, something felt rather than reasoned
- When you find yourself letting go of old attachments not out of duty but because your heart has genuinely moved on
