Abhanga 2419

After a long search, the devotee stops accepting distance and asks God to stand close, face to face, and settle accounts honestly.

When you have been seeking something for a long time and finally want direct contact instead of another indirect sign.

When household duties and everyday talk keep delaying a meeting or practice you actually care about.

When you want to finally settle an unfinished matter cleanly instead of leaving it open.

The verse

फावलें तुम्हां मागें । नवतों लागें पावलों ॥१॥ आलों आतां उभा राहें । जवळी पाहें सन्मुख ॥ध्रु.॥ घरीं होती गोवी जाली । कामें बोली न घडे चि ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे धडफुडा । जालों झाडा देई देवा ॥३॥

Literal translation

You got behind me — I came reaching. I've come, stand up — look near, face-to-face. At home was entanglement — work-and-talk not happening. Tuka says: strong-clean — give the account-clearance, Dēvā.

What it means

THE STAND-UP-FACE-TO-FACE ABHANG.

THE OPENING: ālōm ātām ubhā rāhē — javaḷī pāhē sanmukha — I've come, stand up — look near, face-to-face. I've-come; stand-up; look-near, face-to-face. The demand for direct-darshan.

The account-clearance: Tukā mhaṇē dhaḍa-phuḍā — jālōm jhāḍā dē'ī Dēvā — make me strong-clean — give the account-clearance. The bhakta-as-employee asking-for-final-settlement.
