Abhanga 2462

True contentment comes when you stop demanding more and are satisfied with even the smallest share given in devotion.

When you notice a long-held restlessness or exhaustion has finally eased and you want to name that relief.

When you catch yourself content with a small portion instead of insisting on more.

When you're trying to describe the quiet satisfaction that follows surrendering your bigger demands.

The verse

भाग सीण गेला । माझा सकळ विठ्ठला ॥१॥ तुझा म्हणवितों दास । केली उच्छिष्टाची आस ॥ध्रु.॥ राहिली तळमळ । तई पासोनी सकळ ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे धालें । पोट ऐसें कळों आलें ॥३॥

Literal translation

Exhaustion-fatigue is gone — my Viṭhṭhal — all of it. I call myself your servant — made the leftover-hope. Agitation stopped — from that point all. Tuka says: stomach is full — I came to know it so.

THE EXHAUSTION-GONE-STOMACH-FULL ABHANG. Continues 2422's uchchhiṣṭāchī āsa theme.

The leftover-hope: kēlī uchchhiṣṭāchī āsa — made the leftover-hope. By-hoping-only-for-the-leftovers (uchchhiṣṭa), the agitation stopped — the bhakta is-finally-satiated.
