Abhanga 2569

For today: birth-death is our inheritance — if you remove it, you're great ; stand up for the true-false debate .

When you feel your long-held faith has not yet produced the change you were hoping for

When you want to be honest with yourself about what is true and what is only pretense in your beliefs

When you sense you have grasped something essential and are ready to clear away old confusion

The verse

उपजों मरों हे तों आमुची मिरासी । हें तूं निवारिसी तरी थोर ॥१॥ उभा राहीं करीं खरा खोटा वाद । आम्ही जालों निंद लंडीपणें ॥ध्रु.॥ उभयतां आहे करणें समान । तुम्हां ऐसा म्हणें मी ही देवा ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे हातीं सांपडलें वर्म । अवघाची भ्रम फेडिन आतां ॥३॥

Literal translation

Birth-death is our mirāsī — if you remove it, [you're] great. Stand up, do the true-false debate — we became disgraced, cowardly. Work to be done by both equally — even I say of you, Dēvā. Tuka says: secret found in hand — will dispel all bhrama now.

The claim: upajōm marōm hē tōm āmuchī mirāsī — birth-death is our mirāsī (inheritance). Birth-death is OUR mirāsī (= what we've inherited); if YOU remove it, you'll be great.
