Full surrender does not weaken you, it strengthens you, and complete letting go is what actually sets you free.
The verse
आम्ही जालों बळिवंत । होऊनियां शरणागत ॥१॥
केला घरांत रिघावा । ठायीं पडियेला ठेवा ॥ध्रु.॥
हातां चढलें धन । नेणं रचिलें कारण ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे मिठी । पायीं देउनि केली सुटी ॥३॥
Literal translation
We-baḷivanta-by-śaraṇāgati. Entered-house — ṭhēvā-lying-in-place. Wealth-to-hand — don't-know-arranged-cause. Tukā: miṭhī — given-at-feet, suṭī.
What it means
A 3-verse paradox text. Surrender makes us strong; we walked into the house and the treasure was already there; the embrace at the feet set us free.
For someone today
Tukaram describes a paradox at the heart of surrender: giving yourself up doesn't make you weaker, it makes you strong. He walks into the house of God like a beggar with nothing, and finds a treasure already waiting for him there, arranged by a cause he can't even trace. Wealth comes into his hands without him striving for it. And the deepest freedom, he says, comes from an embrace given fully at the feet — letting go completely is what actually sets him loose.
मराठी: तुकाराम शरणागतीच्या गाभ्यातील एक विरोधाभास सांगतात, स्वतःला पूर्णपणे सोडून देणे हे कमजोर करत नाही, तर ते बळकट करते. ते रिकाम्या हाताने देवाच्या घरात प्रवेश करतात आणि तिथे आधीच त्यांच्यासाठी ठेवलेला खजिना सापडतो, ज्याचे कारण त्यांना स्वतःलाच माहीत नाही. प्रयत्नाशिवायच धन त्यांच्या हाती येते. आणि खरी मुक्ती, ते म्हणतात, चरणांशी पूर्ण समर्पणाने दिलेल्या मिठीतूनच मिळते, पूर्णपणे सोडून देणेच त्यांना खऱ्या अर्थाने मुक्त करते.
