Tukārām's child-with-mother fondness-game. I speak with sport-speech, with fondness — making (my) mouth rough-twisted. In duality there is no bhāva — this is the worry; between mother and child there is no distinction. With intimacy, I call (you) from afar and from near — running, (we) make body-union. Holding (your) cloth-end, I ask for the child's-mock-meal — the nice love-joy of fondness. You have sweetness for us only — this fondness has come to (my) knowing. The verse permits the canonical child-with-mother bhakti-tenderness.
The verse
कवतुकवाणी बोलतसें लाडें । आरुष वांकडें करुनि मुख ॥१॥
दुजेपणीं भाव नाहीं हे आशंका । जननीबाळकामध्यें भेद ॥ध्रु.॥
सलगी दुरूनि जवळी पाचारूं । धांवोनियां करूं अंगसंग ॥२॥
धरूनि पालव मागतों भातुकें । आवडीचें निकें प्रेमसुख ॥३॥
तुका म्हणे तुज आमची च गोडी । ऐसी हे आवडी कळों आली ॥४॥
Literal translation
Kavatuka-vāṇī bōlatasē lāḍe — I speak with sport-speech, with fondness; āruṣa vāmkaḍe karuni mukha — making (my) mouth rough-twisted. Dujepaṇī bhāva nāhī he āśankā — in duality no bhāva — this is the worry; jananī-bāḷakāmadhye bhēda — between mother and child (no) bhēda. Salagī durūnī javaḷī pāchārūm — with intimacy, (I) call from afar, from near; dhāvōnīyām karūm angasanga — running, (we) make anga-sanga. Dharūnī pālava māgatōm bhātukē — holding (your) cloth-end, I ask for bhātukē; āvaḍīñce nike premasukha — fondness's nice prema-sukha. Tukā mhaṇe tuja āmuchī cha gōḍī — Tukā says: you have sweetness for us only; aisī he āvaḍī kaḷōm ālī — this āvaḍī has come to knowing.
