Abhanga 4055

Handing over your whole self and your sense of what's good for you to God frees you to live worry-free, trusting that care to someone who truly knows your good.

When you are worn out from carrying the full weight of deciding what's best for yourself.

When you receive praise or blame and want to stay steady rather than swept up in either.

When you want to let go of constant worry and trust that things will be handled well.

The verse

संकिल्पला तुज सकळ ही भाव । कोण एक ठाव उरला तेथें ॥१॥ इंद्रियव्यापार जेंजें कांहीं कर्म । करितों ते धर्म सकळ तुझे ॥ध्रु.॥ माझें हित फार लागला विचार । तुज सर्व भार चालवणें ॥२॥ जो कांहीं लौकिक करिसी तो तुझा । अपमान पूजा कांहींतरि ॥३॥ तुका म्हणे मी तों राहिलों निश्चिंत । तुज कळे हित तैसें करीं ॥४॥

Literal translation

I've resolved all bhāva to you — what place left? indriya-karma I do — those dharmas all yours. My hita — much vichāra — all bhāra to you. Whatever laukika you make — yours — apamāna or pūjā. Tukā: I've stayed niśchinta — you know hita, do that.

For someone today

Tukaram describes handing over everything to God, holding nothing back for himself. Every action of his senses, everything he does, he treats as belonging to God rather than to his own separate agenda. He no longer carries the heavy weight of figuring out what's good for him, because he has placed that entire burden on God to manage. Whether the world honors him or insults him, he takes it as belonging to God too, and because of this complete letting go, he says he can finally rest, worry-free, trusting that the one who knows what's truly good for him will act on it.

मराठी: तुकाराम स्वतःसाठी काहीही न ठेवता सर्वस्व देवाच्या हाती सोपवण्याचे वर्णन करतात. त्यांच्या इंद्रियांची प्रत्येक कृती, ते करत असलेले सर्व काही, स्वतःच्या वेगळ्या हेतूसाठी नव्हे तर देवाचेच मानतात. त्यांना आता स्वतःच्या भल्याचा विचार करण्याचे जड ओझे उचलावे लागत नाही, कारण ते संपूर्ण ओझे त्यांनी देवावर सोपवले आहे. जगाने त्यांचा मान राखो किंवा अपमान करो, तेही देवाचेच आहे असे ते मानतात, आणि या पूर्ण शरणागतीमुळे ते म्हणतात की आता ते निश्चिंत राहू शकतात, कारण त्यांचे खरे हित काय आहे हे जाणणारा तोच त्याप्रमाणे करेल यावर त्यांचा विश्वास आहे.
