Abhanga 4133
Tukaram says he practiced devotion by setting aside restless anxiety, and what he found on the other side was complete, full joy. That joy came specifically from staying close to good company, and as he held on to that closeness, his old anxiety simply fled and disappeared. He describes his soul as overflowing with joy, all because he was able to carry out his service to Vithoba.
The verse
Literal translation
Bhakti-leaving-udvēga — got-sukha-sānga. Sukha-holding-sanga — udvēga-fled. Tukā: jīva-much-sukha — Viṭhōbā-sevā-happened.
What it means
A 3-verse post-udvēga text. We have done bhakti, leaving udvēga behind; we have reached this completed joy. Joy came to us by holding their company; udvēga fled, abandoned. Much joy has come to my soul; the service of Viṭhōbā has happened.
