What it means
★★ THE canonical 10-verse Pāṇḍharī=Vārāṇasī mirror-equivalence catalog. Umā-Ramā on one row; Vārāṇasī-Paṇḍharī. Both alike — Viśvanātha-Viṭṭhal, companions. There Bhāgīrathī, here know Bhīmarathī. Vārāṇasī on the trident, Paṇḍharī on the discus. Maṇikarṇikā heart-stealing — Chandrabhāgā the lake. Vārāṇasī's Bhairavakāḷa — Paṇḍharī's Puṇḍalīka the field-protector. Dhuṇḍirāja-Daṇḍapāṇi (there) — Garuḍa with folded-hands (here). Gayā = Gōpāḷapura, Prayāga = Niranarasimhpura. There are the Gayā-priests; here cows and gōpāḷas. There they give piṇḍa with śamī-leaves; here the kālā of attained nija-sukha. Sants-and-sajjanas made the kālā — Tukā got the prasāda. The 10-pair structural argument: each element of Kāśī has a Paṇḍharī-counterpart. The closing twist: Kāśī's piṇḍa-ritual (for the dead) is replaced at Paṇḍharī by the kālā of attained joy-of-the-Self. The pradakṣiṇā-of-Kāśī is reframed as a parikrama-of-Paṇḍharī. Pair with 2777 (all-tīrthas-at-Paṇḍharī-darśana).
