Literal translation
Why-go-public-mind — my-Vārāṇasī-is-Pāṇḍuranga. Bhāgīrathī=Bhīmarathī — Chandrabhāgā-greater. Mādhavarāja=Yādavarāja — by-Puṇḍalīka-bhāva. Viṣṇu-pada-Gayā-here-pratyakṣa-on-brick. Tukā: saves-prapancha — let-Paṇḍharpur-happen.
What it means
★★ Canonical 4-verse companion-to-4185 (Pāṇḍharī=Kāśī mirror). Why bow to the public-mind — my Vārāṇasī is Pāṇḍuranga. There Bhāgīrathī (= Gangā), here Bhīmarathī — they say Chandrabhāgā is even greater. There Mādhavarāja, here Yādavarāja — knowing Puṇḍalīka's bhāva. Viṣṇu-pada Gayā — that itself is here — see it visible on the brick. Tukā says: this very place saves prapancha — let Paṇḍharpur happen, father. A condensed 4-pair-correspondence (companion to the 10-pair 4185): (1) Vārāṇasī=Pāṇḍuranga; (2) Bhāgīrathī=Bhīmarathī; (3) Mādhavarāja=Yādavarāja-by-Puṇḍalīka; (4) Viṣṇu-pada-Gayā=on-the-brick. The opening why-go-to-public-mind is striking — Tukārām dismisses defer-to-public-religious-opinion in favor of my-own-Paṇḍharpur-experience.
For someone today
Tukārām: why-defer-to-public-religious-opinion — my-Vārāṇasī-is-Pāṇḍuranga-himself; the-sacred-Viṣṇu-pada-of-Gayā is-here, visible-on-the-brick.
