Abhanga 4314
Tukaram says he has sung the very root of joy in his songs and seen God directly in his own heart. He is certain of this closeness, and describes it as God himself who keeps him speaking the sacred Name without a break. This is not something Tukaram forces through effort, it happens through grace, God speaking through him rather than Tukaram straining to speak on his own. His only instruction to us is simple, hold that same heartfelt conviction in your own mind.
The verse
Literal translation
Ānanda-kanda-sung-gītī — saw-Deva-rāya-chitti. Deva-rāya-niścaya — speaks-akhaṇḍa-Name. Speaks-by-krpā — Tukā: hold-bhāva.
What it means
A 3-verse sadguru-sequence-completion text. I've sung the root-of-joy in my song; I've seen the Deva-rāya in my heart. The Deva-rāya is (mine) with certainty; he makes me speak the Name continuously. He speaks through me by doing grace — Tukā says: hold the bhāva in mind. Pair with 4312, 4313 (companion-texts). The doctrine: Lord-speaks-Name-through-bhakta (Lord-as-author of bhakta's-speech).

Where this applies
- When your devotional practice starts to feel effortless, as if it flows through you rather than from forced effort
- When you feel a deep, settled certainty about your connection to God rather than doubt
- When you notice joy arising naturally from repeating the Name rather than from straining
- When you want to hold onto sincere inner conviction rather than just going through the motions
