Ask for only what you truly want, service and closeness, and ask to be spared everything else, even the rewards that look impressive.
The verse
तुज मागणें तें देवा । आम्हां तुझी चरणसेवा ॥१॥ आन नेघों देसी तरी । रिद्धी सिद्धी मुक्ति चारी ॥ध्रु.॥ संतसंगति सर्वकाळ । थोर प्रेमाचा सुकाळ ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे नाम । तेणें पुरे माझें काम ॥३॥
Literal translation
Asking from You — deva — us — Your caraṇa-sēvā. Āna — don't-let-me-take — riddhi-siddhi-mukti — cārī. Sant-sangati — sarva-kāḷa — thōra prēmācā sukāḷa. Tuka says: nāma — purē — my kāma.

For someone today
Tukārām narrows his prayer down to almost nothing: all he asks of God is to serve at his feet. He explicitly asks God not to let him take anything else, not wealth, not supernatural powers, not even any of the classic forms of liberation, because those are not what he actually wants. What he wants instead is the constant company of fellow devotees, which he calls a great festival of love, and the name of God, which by itself is enough to satisfy everything he needs. It is a lesson in wanting less: naming, out loud, the one or two things that actually matter to you, and asking to be protected from being given all the rest.
मराठी: तुकाराम महाराज आपली मागणी जवळजवळ शून्यावर आणतात. देवाकडे ते फक्त एवढंच मागतात की त्याच्या चरणांची सेवा करायला मिळावी. ते स्पष्टपणे सांगतात, मला संपत्ती, ऋद्धी-सिद्धी किंवा मुक्तीचे कोणतेही प्रकार देऊ नकोस, कारण ते खरंच माझी इच्छा नाही. त्याऐवजी त्यांना हवी आहे संतांची सतत सोबत, ज्याला ते प्रेमाचा मोठा सुकाळ म्हणतात, आणि देवाचं नाम, जे एकटंच त्यांचं सगळं काम पुरं करतं. यातून एक धडा मिळतो, आपल्याला खरोखर काय हवं आहे ते मोजक्या शब्दांत सांगावं, आणि बाकी सगळ्यापासून स्वतःला वाचवावं.
