What it means
A enduring-vipatti-gave-joining-You-without-nāma-rūpa-no-deva-place-in-house abhang. Bhakta-makes-deva-deva register. Three claims:
-
Enduring-vipatti-Your-upakāra-claim. Enduring (sōsōni) vipatti (calamity, hardship); (I) gave the jōḍī (joining, contract, partnership) into Your hand; this is the upakāra (favor): at the antā (end), the vēvhāra (dealing) is āmhāśīm (with us). I-endured-vipatti-and-gave-joining-Your-hand; the upakāra is that-the-end-dealing-is-with-us.
-
Without-nāma-rūpa-no-deva-claim. (I) gave a ṭhāva (place) to nāma-rūpa; (without that) who would call You deva?. I-gave-place-to-nāma-rūpa; without-that, no-one-would-call-You-deva. (This is a striking theological-claim: it's the bhakta's giving-place to nāma-rūpa that establishes the deva's deva-hood-in-the-world.)
-
Place-given-You-in-house-claim. Tuka says: Harī; I have ṭhāva dilā (given place) in (my) ghara (house). I-have-given-You-place-in-my-house. (This is final: the bhakta has given the deva place in his house — the deva is a *guest in the bhakta's house, not the other-way-round.)

For someone today
This abhang names the bhakta-makes-deva-deva register:
-
Enduring vipatti, gave the joining to Your hand; the upakāra is the end-dealing. Enduring-vipatti-jōḍī.
-
I gave place to nāma-rūpa; otherwise, who'd call You deva? Without-nāma-rūpa-no-deva.
-
Hari, I have given You place in my house. Place-in-my-house.
For today: the bhakta endured vipatti and gave the jōḍī (the partnership) into Your hand; the upakāra is that the end-dealing is *with us; (without me) giving place to nāma-rūpa, who-would-call-You-deva?; Hari, I have given You place in my house*.
This abhang is Tukaram's bhakta-makes-deva-deva-and-place-in-my-house register — one of the most-bold theological-paradox abhangs. Compare 0752 if-I-not-patita-You-not-pāvana (Tuka's mudra); same theological-paradox but here organized through gave-place-to-nāma-rūpa and gave-You-place-in-my-house. The tuja ṭhāva dilā gharī (I have given You place in my house) is the most-confident bhakta-host-deva-guest claim*.
-
Sōsōni-vipatti, jōḍī-Your-hand; upakāra-end-dealing. Enduring-vipatti-jōḍī.
-
Without-nāma-rūpa-no-deva.
-
Place-in-my-house.
आज: Bhakta vipatti endured आणि jōḍī Your hand-त दिला; Upakāra end-dealing with us; (मला) nāma-rūpa-ला place दिल्या-वाचून, कोण-You-deva-म्हणेल?; Hari, मी You-ला-house-त-place दिला*.
Tuja ṭhāva dilā gharī most-confident bhakta-host-deva-guest claim.
Where this applies
- Enduring vipatti*. Bhakta's-side.
- Without place, no deva*. Paradox.
