Abhanga 946
Tukaram says these words are not really his own; Viṭṭhal speaks through him and does everything. Because of that, he tells us not to carry worry or regret, since good will come if we simply hold that trust in our hearts. The one false thing, he says, is ego, the sense that I am the one doing this, and the very act of speaking honestly tosses that ego aside. In the end only God truly knows whose gift this is; Tukaram calls himself just the measuring spoon that the grain passes through, not the source of the grain itself.
The verse
Literal translation
Navhati — bōla — Viṭṭhal — all. Khantī — none — hita — citta. Khōṭī — ahantā — vāṭa — ṭākilī — sāngatām. Tuka says: jāṇē — mā-pāḍa.

(The mā-pāḍa image: a measuring-vessel through which the grain passes — but the grain isn't its-own. Tuka is just the measuring-vessel — the vacana-content belongs to Viṭṭhal.)

For someone today
Tukaram says these words are not really his own; Viṭṭhal speaks through him and does everything. Because of that, he tells us not to carry worry or regret, since good will come if we simply hold that trust in our hearts. The one false thing, he says, is ego, the sense that I am the one doing this, and the very act of speaking honestly tosses that ego aside. In the end only God truly knows whose gift this is; Tukaram calls himself just the measuring spoon that the grain passes through, not the source of the grain itself.
