When wandering door-to-door, fill belly, locked in chest of being — and you have to recognize this register

When my-mine doesn't move without your kṛpā — and you accept this image

When inner-thief takes prāṇa, where is mother-father — and you allow this image

The verse

हिंडवुनि पोट भरी दारोदारीं । कोंडुनि पेटारी असेरया ॥१॥ माझें मज कांहीं न चलेसें जालें । कृपा तुज न करितां ॥ध्रु.॥ काढूनि बाहेरी प्राण घेऊं पाहे । तेथे बापुमाये कवण रया ॥२॥ मरण नेणें माया धांवोनि वोसरे । जीवित्व ना जालीं बाळें ॥३॥ तुका म्हणे प्राण घेतला आशा । पंढरीनिवासा धाव घालीं ॥४॥

Literal translation

English: Hiṇḍ — dārō-dārī — pēṭārī asērya. Calēsē — without krpā. Prāṇa — bāhērī — bāpu-māya. Maraṇa — māya — vōsarē — jīvitva — bāḷē. Tuka says: āśā — prāṇa — Paṇḍharī-nivāsā — dhāva.

What it means

A petitioner abhang. Five claims:

दारो-दारीं — पेटारी-असेर्या. Wandering-fill-belly-claim. Wandering dārō-dārī, fill the *pōṭa; locking it in the pēṭārī of asēryā (one's own being). (We hunt food door-to-door and lock it in the chest-of-the-self.)
माझें-न-चले — कृपा-न-करितां. Without-kṛpā-doesn't-move-claim. My-mine doesn't move; without your krpā* not done.
प्राण-बाहेरी — बापु-माय-कुठें. Where-is-bāpa-māya-claim. (Inner-cōra) tries to take prāṇa bāhērī; there, where is bāpu-māya, my friend?* (When death pulls the prāṇa out, mother-and-father are nowhere.)
मरण-न-नेणे — माया-वोसर — बाळ-जीवित्व-न. Mother-recedes-children-no-jīvitva-claim. Maraṇa isn't known — māya runs and vōsarē; bāḷē don't have jīvitva*. (Death isn't recognized; māya pulls back; the children have no real life of their own.)
Tuka: आशा-प्राण — Paṇḍharī-निवास-धाव. Paṇḍharī-nivāsā-run-and-strike-claim. Tuka says: āśā has taken (my) prāṇa; Paṇḍharī-nivāsā, run and strike.
