Abhanga 2077

Ask only from God, and offer him true devoted service. Nothing is lacking in his presence, since even the miraculous powers of riddhi and siddhi serve him. Offer your body, speech, and mind to him completely, holding nothing back. As Tuka says, he is Vishvambhara, the sustainer by whom this whole cosmos of moving and unmoving beings exists.

When you find yourself begging or flattering others for things you actually need most from God

When you are deciding whether to hold something back from your devotion instead of offering it fully

When you doubt whether trusting God with your needs is enough and feel tempted to look elsewhere

The verse

मागणें तें मागों देवा । करूं भक्ति त्याची सेवा ॥१॥ काय उणे तयापाशीं । रिद्धिसिद्धी ज्याच्या दासी ॥ध्रु.॥ कायावाचामन । करूं देवा हें अर्पण ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे विश्वंभर । ज्याच्यानें हें चराचर ॥३॥

Literal translation

Let's ask only of Deva — let's do his bhakti-sēvā. What's lacking at his place — ṛddhi-siddhī are his servants. Body-speech-mind — let's offer to Deva. Tuka says: Viśvambhara — by-whom this cosmos-of-moving-and-still.

What it means

Only-from-Deva-ask + offer-three-fold + Viśvambhara abhang.

The opening — the resolution: māgaṇē tē māgōm Dēvā — karūm bhakti tyāchī sēvā — let's ask only of Deva — let's do his bhakti-sēvā. If we ask, ask-only-of-Deva; do-his-bhakti-sēvā — direct response to 2076's mercenary-begging-door-to-door.

The lacking-line: kāya uṇē tayāpāśīm — ṛddhi-siddhī jyāchyā dāsī — what's lacking at his place — ṛddhi-siddhī are his servants. Nothing-is-lacking; ṛddhi-siddhī (the supernatural-powers) are-his-servants.

The body-speech-mind offering: kāyā-vāchā-mana — karūm Dēvā hē arpaṇa — body-speech-mind — let's offer to Deva. Offer the three-instruments to-the-Deva — complete-arpaṇa (echoes 2058's Vaiṣṇava-niyama three-fold).

The closing-Viśvambhara: Tukā mhaṇē Viśvambhara — jyāchyānē hē charā-chara — Tuka says: Viśvambhara — by-whom this cosmos-of-moving-and-still. Viśvambhara = world-supporter. Charā-chara = moving-and-still (= all-creation). The Viśvambhara — by-whom the-entire-moving-and-still-cosmos.

मराठी: फक्त देवाकडेच मागावं, आणि त्याची खरी भक्ती-सेवा करावी. त्याच्यापाशी काहीही कमी नाही, कारण ऋद्धी-सिद्धीसुद्धा त्याच्या दासी आहेत. आपलं शरीर, वाणी आणि मन पूर्णपणे त्याला अर्पण करावं, काहीही राखून ठेवू नये. तुका म्हणतो, तो विश्वंभर आहे, ज्याच्यामुळे हे चराचर सृष्टी टिकून आहे.
