Abhanga 2148

When you feel swept away and out of strength, it is honest to cry out for compassion, trusting the same natural pull a child feels toward its mother.

When you feel overwhelmed by circumstances you cannot control.
When you openly question why help seems slow to arrive.
When you feel a simple, instinctive longing for comfort like a child seeking its mother.

The verse

Literal translation

I am being swept in the flood — now do what is proper. My śakti, Nārāyaṇa — plead karuṇā. Kāla pulls us — your strength has weakened. Tuka says: sweetness — jīva's mother-pull.
