तळमळी चित्ती दर्शनाची आशा । बहु जगदीशा करुणा केली ॥१॥ वचनीं च संत पावले स्वरूप । माझें नेदी पाप योगा येऊं ॥ध्रु.॥ वेठीऐसा करीं भक्तिवेवसाव । न पवे चि जीव समाधान ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे कईं देसील विसांवा । पांडुरंगे धांवा घेतें मन ॥३॥ ॥४॥
Literal translation
English: Tossing-mind, hope of darshan — much pleading-with-Jagadīśa was done. Saints attained svarūpa by words alone — my pāpa doesn't let yoga come. Reluctantly I do bhakti-vyavasāya — jīva doesn't reach samādhāna. Tuka says: when will you give rest — mind runs to Pāṇḍuranga. ॥4॥

The opening — tossing-mind: taḷamaḷī chittī darśanācī āśā — bahu Jagadīśā karuṇā kēlī — tossing-mind, hope of darshan — much pleading-with-Jagadīśa. Taḷamaḷ = agitation, tossing-and-turning. The mind tosses in hope-of-darshan; much-pleading was-done-to-Jagadīśa.
The saints-by-words comparison: vachanīm cha santa pāvalē svarūpa — mājhē nēdī pāpa yōgā yē'ūm — saints attained svarūpa by words alone — my pāpa doesn't let yoga come. Saints attained-svarūpa by-words alone (just-by-saying-the-Name); my pāpa doesn't-let yoga-come-to-me. The bitter-contrast.
The reluctant-bhakti: vēṭhī'aisā karīm bhakti-vēvasāva — na pavē chi jīva samādhāna — reluctantly I do bhakti-vyavasāya — jīva doesn't reach samādhāna. Vēṭhī = forced-labor, reluctance. The closing — when-rest, mind-runs-to-Pāṇḍuranga: Tukā mhaṇē ka'īm dēsīla visāmvā — Pāṇḍurangē dhāmvā ghētē mana — Tuka says: when will you give rest — mind runs to Pāṇḍuranga. Visāmvā = rest, repose. Dhāmvā ghētē = makes a dhāvā (running-prayer). When-will-you-give rest — meanwhile the mind keeps-running-to-Pāṇḍuranga.
