Literal translation
Jāṇatōm samaye — I know the samaya; parī mata kāmā naye — but my mata is not-of-use. Tumhī sāngāve te bare — you tell what's good; Devā sakaḷa vichāre — Deva, with all vichāra. Phukāñciye pusī — free-asking; chintā nāhī hōte aisī — chintā doesn't happen by it. Tukā mhaṇe āhe — Tukā says; dhara pāya maja sāhe — hold pāya, be (my) sāhe.
What it means
A short 3-verse surrender-text by Tukārām. The claim: I-know-the-occasion, but-my-opinion-is-of-no-use; you-tell-what's-good, Deva, with-full-consideration. Free-asking-doesn't-cause-chintā. Hold-feet, be-my-helper.
The deferral my-mata-not-useful; you-tell-with-full-vichāra is the heart of the surrender.
For someone today
Tukārām's surrender. I know the occasion — but my opinion is of no use. You say what is good, Deva — with all consideration. Asking freely doesn't cause worry. Hold (my) feet — be my helper. The verse offers this stance of surrender: I defer entirely to Deva's own judgment.
