Tukārām compares himself to a watchdog guarding its own ground. Just as a dog's very nature is to protect its territory, refusing to let even a breeze from elsewhere near the house, Tukārām says he too fiercely guards this boundary — tearing apart anything that threatens it. He places his trust in no one but the Lord; other people cannot be relied upon the way God can.
The verse
सुनियांचा हा चि भाव । आपला ठाव राखावा ॥१॥
दुजियाचा येऊं वारा । नेदूं घरावरी देऊं ॥ध्रु.॥
केली याची फाडाफाडी। तडामोडी क्षेत्राची ॥२॥
पातेजत नाहीं लोकां । तुका देवावांचूनि ॥३॥
Literal translation
Sune-bhāva — protect-own-place. Don't-let-other's-wind on-house. Tore-the-kṣetra-boundary. Tukā: doesn't-trust-people — except-Deva.
