Abhanga 3303
Real greatness comes not from wealth, property, or lineage, but from carrying God close to the heart, which brings lasting sweetness and an unfading inner light.
The verse
धनें वित्तें कुळें । अवघियानें ते आगळे ॥१॥
ज्याचे नारायण गांठीं । भरला हृदय संपुटीं ॥ध्रु.॥
अवघें चि गोड । त्याचें पुरलें सर्व कोड ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे अस्त । उदय त्याच्या तेजा नास्त ॥३॥
Literal translation
Dhana-vitta-kuḷa make-aglā. Whose-Nārāyaṇa-in-gāṇṭhī, hrdaya-sampuṭa-filled. All-gōḍa, all-kōḍa-fulfilled. Tukā: no-asta-udaya-nāsta of-his-teja.
What it means
A short 3-verse claim. Worldly-rank-by-dhana-vitta-kuḷa; but the-bhakta-whose-Nārāyaṇa-is-in-the-purse has-the-undimming-light.
For someone today
Real wealth isn't measured by money, property, or family lineage. The person who carries Nārāyaṇa tied close, filling their heart like a treasure held safe in its case, has something no fortune can buy. When God fills your heart this way, everything in life turns sweet and every deep longing finally settles. Tukārām says this person's inner light never rises and sets like the sun; it simply never dims.
मराठी: खरी श्रीमंती धन, संपत्ती किंवा कुळाने मोजली जात नाही. ज्याने नारायणाला आपल्या हृदयात गाठ बांधून, जणू हृदयाच्या पेटीत जपून ठेवले आहे, त्याच्याकडे कोणतेही धन विकत घेऊ शकत नाही असे काहीतरी आहे. जेव्हा देव अशा प्रकारे तुमचे हृदय भरून टाकतो, तेव्हा आयुष्यातील सर्व काही गोड होते आणि प्रत्येक खोल इच्छा शमते. तुकाराम म्हणतात की अशा माणसाचा आतला प्रकाश सूर्यासारखा उगवत-मावळत नाही, तो कधीच विझत नाही.
