Abhanga 3311
When you feel forgotten and worn down by endless worry, it is honest to ask trusted companions to carry your plea forward and to admit your anger at what worldly life demands.
The verse
Literal translation
Vārakarīs-at-feet, asked-them. Listen-what — don't-forget-ranka. Chintāvōnī-chintā made; this-avasthā-remained. Tukā: angry-with-samsāra for-this.
What it means
A short 3-verse petition. Through-vārakarīs-the-Lord-is-told to-remember-the-pauper.
For someone today
Tukaram turns to the vārakarīs, the fellow pilgrims heading to God's feet, and asks them to carry a simple message for him: listen to what I say, and do not forget this poor, ordinary person. He admits he has been worrying about the same thing again and again, and that anxious state simply will not leave him. He says plainly that this endless cycle of worry is exactly why he is genuinely angry with worldly life.
