Abhanga 3313

Tukārām offers himself completely to the Lord and admits he doesn't really know how to do things right — not even how to properly perform pūjā. He asks the all-knowing Lord to complete whatever is lacking. He compares himself to a newborn child, whose needs a mother instinctively understands without being told. In the same way, Tukārām asks Hari to simply pick him up and carry him, trusting that the Lord already knows everything he needs.

When you feel unqualified or ignorant about religious practice and hesitate to pray.

When you want to trust completely instead of controlling every detail yourself.

When you need comfort and long to be cared for the way a mother cares for her baby.

The verse

वोडविलें अंग । आतां करूनि घ्यावें सांग ॥१॥ काय पूजा ते मी नेणें । जाणावें जी सर्वजाणें ॥ध्रु.॥ पोटा आलें बाळ । त्याचें जाणावें सकळ ॥२॥ चुका म्हणे हरी । वाहावें जी कडियेवरी ॥३॥

Literal translation

Offered-anga, now-do-(it)-sānga. Don't-know-pūjā; you-sarva-jāṇa-know. Baby-in-pōṭa, all-known. Tukā: Hari, carry-on-arm.
