Abhanga 3315
Purify your mind and remember Narayana, Tukaram says, because that is the only way to cross the ocean of worldly bondage. When the mind is truly pure, the real inner seed of devotion finally settles and takes root. He closes with a vivid image, a piece of salt dropped into water does not stay separate, it becomes the water itself. That is what happens to someone who gives themselves completely, there stops being any distance between the devotee and God.
The verse
करूंनियां शुद्ध मन । नारायण स्मरावा ॥१॥
तरीच हा तरिजे सिंधु । भवबंधू तोडोनिया ॥ध्रु.॥
तेथे सरे शुद्ध साचें । अंतरींचे बीज तें ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे लवणकळी । पडतां जळीं तें होय ॥३॥
Literal translation
Make-shuddha-mana, smara-Nārāyaṇa. Only-then bhava-sindhu-tarijē, bhava-bandhana-broken. There shuddha-sācha antara-bīja settles. Tukā: lavaṇa-kaḷī falling-jaḷa, becomes-(it).
