Abhanga 3357
Approach the divine as a trusted kinsman and place of rest, pouring out your struggles there the way a daughter returns to her childhood home, where nothing good is missing and no more searching is needed.

What it means
A canonical 4-verse Paṇḍharī-as-māhera text. Tukārām approaches Viṭhṭhala-and-the-sant-community as a bride-going-to-māhera (mother's-home). All-his-toil-and-fortune is-to-be-told there; in-that-māhera there's no-uṇa-of-sukha; no need-of-coming-back.
For someone today
Tukaram describes Viththal as his true kinsman, a good and trustworthy friend, and a place of rest, and says he intends to go visit him the way you would visit a beloved relative. He plans to pour out all his weariness and struggle there, confident that Viththal, like a father, already understands everything about him. He will also seek the comfort of his mother figures, brothers, and community, and will pour out his heart honestly to the saints and holy people he meets along the way. He compares Pandhari to a woman's childhood home, the place a married daughter returns to for comfort, saying that there nothing good is missing, so once he arrives there is no need to keep coming and going anywhere else.
