Abhanga 3423
Tukaram is amazed to realize that God himself seems unable to bear waiting either, rushing to help the moment his devotee cries out in distress. He feels his own breath breaking with urgency, calling out again and again for help. Without that presence, every direction in his life feels empty and desolate, like there's nowhere to turn. So he asks, half playful and half desperate, why won't Pandurang just listen and come.
The verse
Literal translation
Seems-āścharya — you-can't-hold-dhīra. My-prāṇa-breaks — run-run-saying. Don't-know-diśās — became-ōśa-without-you. Tukā: why — don't-you-listen, Pāṇḍurangā.
What it means
A 3-verse playful petition. It's a wonder that you (Lord) can't hold patience either — you also say run-run; the directions are desolate without you; why don't you listen?
