Tukaram promises to answer whenever God calls, offering what he has and letting his whole life move alongside God's.
The verse
Literal translation
You-call — I-come-into-your-uttara. For-kōḍa-kavatika, give-bhātuka. As-you-speak — I-do-sēvana-sarisē. Tukā: Deva — my-chaḷaṇa-savā-with-you.
What it means
A 3-verse you-call-and-I-respond text. Whatever you call me to do — I will respond; I'll bring the toy-meal as a charming offering; my movement is alongside yours.
For someone today
Tukaram promises that whenever God calls, he will answer right away, ready to respond however he's needed. He offers whatever small, charming things he has, like a loving gift placed directly into God's hands. Whatever God asks of him, he'll serve in that same spirit, matching it step for step. In the end, he says his whole life simply moves alongside God's, staying close no matter what direction that takes.
Where this applies
- When you're ready to respond the moment you're called, without hesitation or delay
- When you offer whatever small, sincere thing you have as a gift, even if it seems modest
- When you match your effort to what's actually being asked of you rather than doing your own thing
- When you feel your whole life is simply staying close to and moving with something greater than yourself
