Abhanga 3489

Calling out with sincere love opens a boundless generosity that never runs out and never turns you away.

When you feel unconditionally welcomed, like family, rather than judged or measured.
When you worry there is not enough love or provision to go around.
When you realize calling out sincerely, from love, is what opens generosity toward you.

The verse

Literal translation

We-laḍikīm-of-surāṇī — elder-younger Deva. No-avhēra — gōmaṭa-uttara and-bhātuka. Nothing-vañchilē — mūla-root-sthirāvilē. Ornaments-on-anga — every-aḷankāra-lēṇa. Amupa-bhāṇḍāra — doesn't-end-when-used. Tukā: we-call-with-āvaḍī — jōḍī-shown.

What it means

A 5-verse darling-child text. We're the surāṇī's beloved (darlings, elder-and-younger); no rejection happens — sweet-replies and toy-meal; nothing kept-separate; ornaments and clothes given; the storehouse doesn't run out; we call out of love and the treasure is shown. Companion to 3461 (last-morsel-make-sweet-mother).

For someone today

Tukaram describes himself and other devotees as beloved children of a close family, some older, some younger, but all equally dear. Because of that, he says, nothing is ever refused to them, only warm responses and playful gifts come their way. Nothing has ever really been kept apart or withheld at the deepest root of things, it has all settled as belonging to them. They are dressed in ornaments and fine garments, given every adornment freely. And no matter how much is drawn from this treasury, it never runs dry, there is no limit or accounting to it. He closes simply, saying we call out of love, and that is exactly why this treasure keeps revealing itself to us.
