Sometimes there is nothing left to say, and even reverence for someone's status can be set aside when pleading never brought real peace.
The verse
Literal translation
What's-uralē-between-us — to-be-vāṇī-jēsē. Mana-made-niṣṭha — without-samādhāna. Let-the-pining-be — in-everyone's-house. Tukā: let-dēva-paṇa-stay-guṇḍāḷūna.
What it means
A striking 3-verse defiance text. What's left to say between us? — the mana has been made firm without samādhāna; let the pining be as it is, in every house; let the dēva-hood stay wrapped-up (set-aside). Tukārām's strongest what-do-I-care-about-your-godhood moment in this cluster.
For someone today
Tukaram asks bluntly what is even left to say between the two of them now, since his mind has grown firm and resolute without ever finding real peace or settlement. He decides to simply let the pining ache remain wherever it naturally lives, in every household, rather than chase it away. In a striking act of defiance he concludes that God's very godhood can stay wrapped up and set aside, unused, for all he cares right now.
Where this applies
- When a relationship has reached a point where more talking won't resolve anything
- When your mind has hardened into resolve even though you never found real peace
- When you decide to let an ache simply exist rather than keep fighting to fix it
- When you feel bold enough to say you no longer need someone's status or power to matter to you
