Abhanga 3624

Tukaram says that truly remembering God is enough to make fear run away on its own. Once you know that God holds authority over everything, you no longer need to sit and worry about outcomes. When your heart's devotion stays fixed at God's feet with real feeling, God feels close, right there with you. And chanting Krishna's name brings a cool, soothing love that is available to everyone, not just a chosen few.

When fear takes hold of you and you need something to steady your mind

When you are anxious about a result you have no control over

When you turn to chanting or remembering a name and feel calm reach everyone around you, not just yourself

The verse

सत्य आठवितां देव । जातो भेंव पळोनि ॥१॥ न लगे कांहीं करणे चिंता । धरी सत्ता सर्व तो ॥ध्रु.॥ भावें भाव राहे पायीं । देव तैं संनिध ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे कृष्णनामें । शीतळ प्रेम सर्वांसी ॥३॥

Literal translation

Truly-remembering-Deva — bhaya-runs-away. No-chintā — he-holds-sattā-of-all. Bhāva-bhāva-at-feet — Deva-sannidha. Tukā: Krṣṇa-Nāma — śītaḷa-prēma-for-all.
