Tukaram says that God dwells in Pandhari in a fully embodied way, while in other far-off places people worship him only through images and symbols. But then he immediately widens the point: even if you go off to a forest with nothing but a plain stone, you can do kirtana there and treat that stone as Vitthal himself. What actually matters, he says, is your bhava, your inner feeling and sincerity, because wherever real devotion is present, God shows up quickly. The lesson is that a sacred place can help, but heartfelt devotion is what truly draws the divine near, no matter where you are.

मूर्तिमंत देव नांदतो पंढरी । येर ते दिगांतरीं प्रतिमारूप ॥१॥
जाउनियां वना करावें कीर्तन । मानुनी पाषाण विठ्ठलरूप ॥२॥
तुका मुख्य पाहिजे भाव । भावापासीं देव शीघ्र उभा ॥३॥
Literal translation
Mūrtimanta deva nāmdatō paṇḍharī — yera te digāntarīm pratimārūpa — the mūrtimanta Deva dwells in Paṇḍharī — the rest in distant regions are pratimā-rūpa. Jāuniyām vanā karāvem kīrtana — mānunī pāṣāṇa viṭṭhalarūpa — going to forest do kīrtana — considering stone as Viṭṭhal-rūpa. Tukā mukhya pāhije bhāva — bhāvāpāśīm deva śīghra ubhā — Tukā: chiefly bhāva is needed — near bhāva, Deva stands quickly.
