Tukaram says he no longer needs to travel to sacred cities like Kashi or Gaya, because God's feet are already his holy place, and simply holding God's form in his mind is all the ritual practice he needs. Where others travel far to perform rites for their ancestors at Gaya, he says that has already been accomplished right here, in his own body, through devotion. Every pilgrimage site anyone could ever seek, he says, already lives right where God's feet are.
The verse
तुझे पाय माझी काशी । कोण जाय माझें काशी॥१॥
तुझें रूप तें चि ध्यान । तें चि माझें अनुष्ठान ॥ध्रु.॥
तुझे चरण ते चि गया । जालें गयावर्जन देहा ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे सकळ तीथॉ । तुझें पायीं वसती येथें ॥३॥
Literal translation
Tujhe pāya mājhī Kāśī — your feet my Kāśī; kōṇa jāya mājhē Kāśī — who goes (then) to (other) Kāśī. Tujhe rūpa te chi dhyāna — your rūpa is the dhyāna; te chi mājhe anuṣṭhāna — that itself my anuṣṭhāna. Tujhe charaṇa te chi Gayā — your charaṇa are Gayā; jāle gayāvarjana dehā — gayā-varjana done in deha. Tukā mhaṇe sakaḷa tīrtha — Tukā says: all tīrtha; tujhe pāyīm vasatī yethe — dwell at your pāya here.
