Abhanga 4282
Tukaram says a roasted seed can never sprout again, and in the same way, once devotion has roasted him, he is free from the whole cycle of being born and dying again. His body itself has become inseparable from God, so there is no longer any separate form left to worry about. He describes himself as sugar that never came from sugarcane, meaning his transformation is so complete that there is no more process of growth or return to a womb. Everything, he says, comes down to this: God fills every single vessel, every single life, completely.

बीज भाजुनि केली लाही । आम्हां जन्ममरण नाहीं ॥१॥
आकाराशी कैंचा ठाव । देहप्रत्यक्ष जाला देव ॥ध्रु.॥
साकरेचा नव्हे उस । आम्हां कैंचा गर्भवास ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे औघा योग । सर्वां घटीं पांडुरंग ॥३॥
Literal translation
Bīja-roasted-popped — no-janma-maraṇa. No-place-for-ākāra — deha-pratyakṣa-Deva. Sugar-not-of-cane — no-garbha-vāsa. Tukā: whole-yōga — Pāṇḍuranga-in-every-ghaṭa.
