Abhanga 4486
Tukaram shows that when God truly enters a place, worry flees and deep understanding can arise through grace alone, faster than years of ritual effort could achieve.
The verse
Literal translation
A 13-verse yamak-bandha-chain continuation: Chintā fled outside Gokul — Deva entered inside; Deva came to Nanda-gāva — blessed is his fortune; deathless took form — for daitya-samhāra and bhakta-jana-pālaṇa; Gokul-ānanda manifest — niṣbhara house-to-house; Lakṣmī's vāsa in house-to-house — dainya-dāliddrya-trāsa fled; Nārāyaṇa in their antara — dayā-kṣamā for nara-nārī; Gokul-folk got brahma-jñāna without japa-tapa; one Viṣṇu saca-khārā no other; bhakta no other in three-worlds except Cakra-pāṇī; take garbha-vāsa in his sukha-sang — abandoning all other āśā.
What it means
A 13-verse yamak-bandha continuation from 4485, completing the Krṣṇa-in-Gokul narrative + radical-Viṣṇu-monism. Key claims: (a) avatāra-purpose: daitya-samhāra + bhakta-jana-pālaṇa, (b) Gokul-folks-get-brahma-jñāna-without-japa-tapa — radical-grace-claim, (c) one-Viṣṇu-saca-khārā — no-other-second, (d) bhakta no-other-in-three-worlds except-Cakra-pāṇī, (e) take-garbha-vāsa in-his-sukha-sang — abandoning-all-other-hope. The exclusive-Vaiṣṇava-soteriology of 4456 reappears-here. Pair with 4485 (preceding chain), 4456 (anti-pañchāyatana), 2826-2830 (Krṣṇa-janma cluster).
For someone today
Continuing the story of Krishna's arrival in Gokul, Tukaram shows what happens when God actually enters a place: anxiety flees, joy spreads house to house, and poverty and distress give way to abundance. Remarkably, the people of Gokul gain deep spiritual understanding without years of ritual practice or austerity, simply through the closeness of grace. Tukaram states plainly that there is only one true reality behind it all, and that a devotee needs nothing else in the whole world once that connection is found. The lesson is that when you truly welcome the divine in, worry cannot stay, and grace can do in a moment what years of striving could not.
Where this applies
- When anxiety seems to dominate your household and you wonder what real peace would even feel like
- When you have spent years trying to achieve spiritual understanding through effort alone and feel you are getting nowhere
- When you notice that grace, kindness, or a sudden sense of presence changed something in you faster than any amount of striving
- When you are searching for one steady thing to hold onto instead of chasing many different hopes
