Sing, meditate on, and picture Viṭṭhal all at once, because that simple combined practice itself cuts worldly bonds and brings real, immediate sweetness.
The verse
विठ्ठल गीतीं गावा विठ्ठल चित्तीं ध्यावा । विठ्ठल उभा पाहावा विटेवरी ॥१॥ अनाथाचा बंधु विठ्ठल कृपासिंधु । तोडी भवबंधु यमपाश ॥ध्रु.॥ तो चि शरणागतां हा विठ्ठल मुक्तिदाता । विठ्ठल या संतांसमागमें ॥२॥ विठ्ठल गुणनिधि विठ्ठल सर्व सिद्धि । लागली समाधि विठ्ठलनामें ॥३॥ विठ्ठलाचें नाम घेतां जालें सुख । गोडावलें मुख तुका म्हणे ॥४॥

Viṭṭhal — gīta — citta — viṭa. Anātha-bandhu — kṛpā-sindhu — bhava-bandhu — Yama-pāśa. Mukti-dātā — santām-samāgama. Guṇa-nidhi — sarva-siddhi — samādhi. Tuka says: gōḍāvalē — mukha.

For someone today
Tukaram gives a simple threefold practice: sing of Vitthal, meditate on Vitthal in your heart, and picture Vitthal standing on the brick. He is a brother to the orphaned, an ocean of grace, who cuts through the bonds of worldly life and the noose of death. He grants liberation to all who take refuge in him, especially in the company of saints. He is the treasure of every virtue and every accomplishment, and simply chanting his name brings deep absorption in him. Tuka says that just taking the Name has brought him joy — it has literally made his mouth sweet.
