Tukaram pictures bhakti as an honest trade. Goods from Dvaraka, Krishna's own city, arrive in Pandharpur, and devotees crowd forward eager to receive them. The devotee pays in advance, full trust with nothing held back, and the measure given in return is always true, so the seller never once looks back with regret, even now. This honest weigher never tires of the exchange, though how far this trade can still go, no one yet knows. In the end the profit covers both this life and the next, and Tuka says he too has already collected his wage: the plain trust that lives in the company of the saints.
