Abhanga 3219
Drop the burden of needing to understand everything, trust the task itself, and hand your worries over to God instead of carrying them alone.
The verse
Literal translation
Not-carrying-jāṇiveche-ōjhe; svāmi-sevā-kāje-nirdhāra. Ājñā-pramāṇa in-mind, by-this bhāra-falls. With-āḷīkara, ekavidha-chitta; māyabāpe-come. Tukā: my-sevā-jāti, bhāra-placed-on-Deva.
What it means
A 3-verse sevā-method. Drop-jāṇiveche-burden; trust ājñā as proof; the māyabāpa comes when chitta is ekavidha.
For someone today
Tukaram says he doesn't carry around the weight of always needing to understand or judge things intellectually, his only resolve is simply to serve. Trusting the command itself, without needing proof beyond that, is what lets the burden actually fall away with real certainty. When your mind stays single-focused and devoted rather than divided, that caring presence comes to you; Tukaram's whole approach to service is this: hand the burden over to God rather than carrying it yourself.
