Abhanga 3226

Worldly busyness mostly distracts us from what matters, so let the one in charge carry the worry, and stay as free as a child at play.

When you're weighed down by worldly worries that distract you from what matters most.

When you catch yourself carrying worry that was never really yours to carry.

When you need permission to stay as carefree as a child at play, trusting someone bigger is handling it.

The verse

काय मज एवढा भार । हे वेव्हार चाळवाया ॥१॥ उकल तो जाणे धणी । मज भोजनीं कारण ॥ध्रु.॥ चिंता ज्याची तया शिरीं । लेंकरीं तें खेळावें ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे सेवट झाल । देव या बोला भोगिता ॥३॥

Literal translation

What-bhāra-on-me? — vevahāra to-distract-me. Ukala-the-dhaṇī-knows; my-kāraṇa is-bhōjana. Chintā-on-its-owner; lenkara just-plays. Tukā: at-end, Deva-bhōgitā of-this-bōla.

What it means

A 3-verse trust-text. Child-plays, Lord-handles-the-business; at-the-end, Lord-experiences-the-utterance.

Why carry such a heavy burden? Tukaram says all this worldly busyness is really just there to distract you from what matters. The one in charge already knows how things will unfold, your job is simple, almost like just eating your meals; whatever needs worrying about belongs to its rightful owner, and a child is free to just play. In the end, Tukaram trusts that God will be the one who lives out and answers for these very words.
